From death rows to super-maxes, over 2.3 million men and women sit behind bars today. "Lethal Injustice" speakers are organizing on the front-lines of the fight against criminal injustice, taking a stand against the racist, prison build-up and harsh sentencing.

Presentation — "Separation of Church & State: The Most Important War and Peace Issue of the 21st Century." The Orange County chapter Of Americans United for Separation of Church and State March meeting features Judge Jim Gray. He will be speaking on: "Separation of Church & State: The Most Important War and Peace Issue of the 21st Century." He has noted that some consider this a controversial topic because they see it as an attack on religion. In response he says: “I simply do not agree with that assessment. I view this separation as being one of the most important war-and-peace issues of the 21st century. Of course there will be some exceptions, but in general governments that maintain the separation of church and state will be far less likely to be involved in war than those that do not. For example, we all should be concerned today about the governments of Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan and others where religion plays a large part in the affairs of government.” Given the events of recent weeks this will be very timely.
Doors open at 1:30 for snacks and socializing and seating will be on a first-come, first-seated basis.
Judge Gray received his law degree from USC in 1971 prior to which he served in the Peace Corps in Costa Rica. Judge Gray was elevated to the Orange County Superior Court in July 1989. In 1995 he received the “Judge of the Year” award from the Orange County Constitutional Rights Foundation. He is a prolific author and his most recent book is “A Voter’s Handbook: Effective Solutions to America’s Problems” and will be available for sale at the meeting. Judge Gray also writes a weekly column for the Daily Pilot on issues of our day called “It’s A Gray Area.”

never‐ending negotiations and hostilities between Israelis and Palestinians, it’s hard not to feel
overwhelmed by all of the bad international news. That’s exactly how Jennifer Jajeh feels. And
to make matters worse, Jennifer is Palestinian. Well, Palestinian- American. Or more precisely: a single, Catholic, first generation, Palestinian-American woman who chooses to return to her parents’ hometown of Ramallah at the start of the Second Intifada.

This show is the second in a three part series being curated by Azul 213 held at Urban Sanctuary Gallery in Boyle Heights.
The Zapatistas March on Mexico City
On Feb. 25 2001, the leaders of the insurgent Indian people of Chiapas launched a two-week mass march on Mexico City to remobilize and extend mass support for the demands of those sections of the Mexican population who have suffered most from the world capitalist offensive-the indigenous peoples.
Twenty three commandantes and one sub-commandante left the autonomous mountains of South East Mexico to travel to the Federal District of Mexico City with three demands: 1. To seek approval of the Indigenous Bill of Rights. 2. To seek the withdrawal of seven military bases from indigenous land and 3. To seek the release of all remaining EZLN prisoners.
On the eleventh of March they walked onto a platform in the Zocalo (Mexico City’s picturesque town square) to see one million Mexicans cheer them and offer support and solidarity. Having secured the support of the National Indigenous Council, the Zapatistas took the city with delegates from forty four of Mexico’s fifty seven indigenous nations.

Call to Action — Justice for Jeremy Marks. Support high school student Jeremy Marks,18 of Los Angeles, against felony "attempted LYNCHING" of a police officer. Jeremy witnessed and videotaped an incident involving a Los Angeles Unified School District Police officer and a 15-year-old African American student near Verdugo Hills High School. The police officer beat the student; pepper sprayed him and brutally smashed his head through a bus window. Jeremy Marks faces up to seven years in prison and has already spent nine months in jail while his family raised the $155,000 bail amount.
