In the Caldwell Gallery

Steve Roden: In Between, a 20 Year Survey
Opening: September 11, 7-9pm
Exhibition: September 12, 2010 - January 9, 2011
Curator: Howard N. Fox
Gallery Hours: Noon-5pm (closed Mondays)

Pasadena artist Steve Roden is known internationally as an abstract painter, sculptor, installation artist, and sound artist whose works employ a strong presence of irregular geometries—a distinctive palette that ranges from somber tones, bright colors, and segmented all-over compositions. This is the first exhibition to bring together Roden's art in all its divergent forms and reveals his work as a homogenous, conceptually coherent practice.
In the Mezzanine Gallery

NewTown: Convergences
Opening: September 11, 7-9pm
Exhibition: September 12, 2010 - January 9, 2011
Gallery Hours: Noon-5pm (closed Mondays)

In one of NewTown’s most ambitious gallery shows, eleven digital and media artists appropriate the ubiquitous tools of their media into cutting-edge, highly personal, curiously accessible experimental art forms. Convergences seamlessly integrates media with sculpture and installation into an immersive experience. The exhibition will be a multi-station journey through a labyrinth of interactions, aesthetics and technologies, from garage pillaged elegance to experimental circuitry. The exhibition will feature work by artists; Nancy Buchanan and Ismael De Anda, Claudia Bucher, Robert Ladislas Derr, Heidi Kumao, Katja Loher, Lisa Mann, Anne Oren, Steve Shoffner, Rachel Siegel, Trixy Sweetvittles, and Laura Yilmaz.

In the Artist Studio @ One Colorado

Carly Steward: The Arrangement

24 Smith Alley, Pasadena | View Map
Exhibition: Through January 10, 2011
Gallery Hours: Noon-9pm (Wednesdays), 10am-6pm (Saturdays & Sundays)

One Colorado artist-in-residence Carly Steward's The Arrangement creates an ongoing collaborative installation between viewer and artist. It explores elements of exhibition design, lighting, wall color, space arrangement and display tools. The exhibition space is filled with empty, movable display objects varying in scale, form, and color such as shaped pedestals, build-ups and mounts. Visiting both the exhibition space and the studio space will give the visitor a behind the scenes look at the installation process as well as experience the overall installation as a display making factory.
