Public Forum — Join the Party for Socialism and Liberation every Friday night for a forum on current political events. This Friday: PSL Forum on "The Egyptian Revolution & U.S. Imperialism." Plus: End Police Violence, Justice for Douglas Zerby
We’ll have political discussion, video footage, snacks, drinks and interactive presentations. Learn about the ongoing peoples’ struggle in Egypt and the rest of the Middle East.
The Egyptian revolution has reached a decisive stage as the people of Egypt fight off government-backed goons and the police, demanding the ouster of U.S.-backed dictator, Hosni Mubarak. This rebellion is a heroic response to U.S. imperialism that has inspired hundreds of thousands of people in the Middle East to rise up. Join us for a discussion on:
* The historical context of the Egyptian people's uprising
* How the struggle in Egypt impacts the rest of the Arab world
* Where is the struggle at now and where is it headed?
* The role of the U.S.-funded Israeli state in the region
* What we can do to help defeat U.S. imperialism from inside the “belly of the beast”
PLUS, get involved with the people's struggle right here:
* Discuss the case of Douglas Zerby, killed by Long Beach cops, how to get involved in the struggle for justice
* Update on March 19 anti-war protest in Los Angeles and how you can join the movement

Public Forum — Join the Party for Socialism and Liberation every Friday night for a forum on current political events. This Friday: PSL Forum on "The Capitalist Budget: War, Unemployment & Cutbacks." They’ll have political discussion, snacks, drinks, and interactive presentations.
Both the Republican and Democratic parties are pro-imperialist, pro-war parties. Nothing makes this clearer than the Obama administration’s 2012 budget unveiled this week. At a time when working class and poor people are losing their jobs, homes, health care, and education--the U.S. government is spending $700 million each day to bomb workers abroad and proposing the deepest cuts to social services in years.
Join us for a discussion on:
- Why over half the federal budget goes toward wars and military spending
- How we can build a sustained movement against austerity measures
- What is the alternative to a war economy?
Plus educational talks on:
- Stop the attacks on women’s reproductive rights
- The Spanish-American War and the birth of U.S. imperialism

Cultural Event — I Heart Hamas: And Other Things I'm Afraid To Tell You, a critically‐acclaimed raw look at life as a 30‐something Palestinian‐American woman, will
make its Los Angeles premiere on February 11th, 2011. Presented by Theatre Asylum, writer and star Jennifer Jajeh will bring her personal story to a Los Angeles audience for a 4‐week run.
Jennifer Jajeh |
never‐ending negotiations and hostilities between Israelis and Palestinians, it’s hard not to feel
overwhelmed by all of the bad international news. That’s exactly how Jennifer Jajeh feels. And
to make matters worse, Jennifer is Palestinian. Well, Palestinian- American. Or more precisely: a single, Catholic, first generation, Palestinian-American woman who chooses to return to her parents’ hometown of Ramallah at the start of the Second Intifada.
In her tragicomic solo theatre s how, I Heart Hamas: And Other Things I’m Afraid to Tell You,
Jennifer tries to figure it out for herself. Join her on American and Palestinian soil on auditions,
bad dates, and across military check points as she navigates the thorny terrain around Palestinian identity. Weaving together humor, pop culture references and live theatre, Jajeh
explores how she becomes Palestinian‐ized, then politicized and eventually radicalized in a
fresh, often funny, searingly honest way.
